December to February and it is winter on the island nation of Taiwan, with the weather mild, foggy, and relatively dry. Lows are around 13ºC (55ºC) and highs around 19ºC (65ºC), with rainfall around 20 mm per month. As the tropic of Cancer cuts across the island, the north and the south have a slightly different weather pattern, with the south invariably a few degrees warmer. The island offers rich cultural and spiritual heritage, amazing food, world-class hot springs and stunning scenery. Chinese New Year is at this time and celebrated with considerable relish, the cities coming alive with dragon dancing, lanterns, and the bangs and whistles of fireworks and firecrackers
