It is warm with frequent, though not heavy, rainfall in Kyrgyzstanfrom March to May, the country’s spring. Frost across the country begins to soften, and in March temperatures reach highs of 15 °C (59 °F)in the southern city of Osh; by May they can be over 25 °C (77 °F), with precipitation around 20mm across the spring. A favored pastime in the spring is to visit the flowering meadows off the Jeti Oguz valley in the north east, where people go to relax and drink large doses of kumis (mare’s milk) renowned by the locals for its health-giving qualities.
