It is warm with frequent, though not heavy, rainfall in Kyrgyzstanfrom March to May, the country’s spring. Frost across the country begins to soften, and in March temperatures reach highs of 15 °C (59 °F)in the southern city of Osh; by May they can be over 25 °C (77 °F), with precipitation around 20mm across the spring. A favored pastime in the spring is to visit the flowering meadows off the Jeti Oguz valley in the north east, where people go to relax and drink large doses of kumis (mare’s milk) renowned by the locals for its health-giving qualities.

Each year in early spring, the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek – comes alive with the sound of jazz music. Musicians from across Central Asia, the United States and Europe flock to the northern Kyrgyz city for three days of jazz concerts, events and celebrations in the cosmopolitan city.

Called Eid Al-Fitr in the Arab world, the celebration of Orozo-Ait in Kyrgyzstan marks the end of Ramadan, a month-long Islamic religious ceremony involving fasting. On the day of Orozo-Ait, the fast is over, resulting a congregational prayer and celebrations around the country - and a lot of tasty food.
