Bangladesh in March

March through June sees the mercury rapidly rising across Bangladesh as it enters its hot and humid season. Regional variations are limited, and the summer highs reach 38 to 41 °C, with April being the hottest and, perhaps, cruelest month.  By June seasonal rains start, and the early summer sees intense thunderstorms, known as northwesterners by English-speaking locals, with winds hitting up to 60 kilometers per hour. For those visiting at this muggy time, the stifling heat is such that going out in the middle of the day is to be avoided where possible. The locals prefer to rest in the shade drinking numerous cups of the nation’s tea.
