Our full-time New York and Bangkok staff specialize in our signature, highly customized trip planning, while the execution is handled on-site by a dedicated network of professional guides, drivers and ground managers.
Co-Founder & CEO
Catherine is the Co-Founder & CEO of Remote Lands. Catherine has founded and run four companies in New York, Hong Kong, China, San Francisco and Los Angeles since age 26. She started her career as a software engineer, and was a pioneer in digital media in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Her first company, InterOptica Publishing Ltd based in Hong Kong, created the world's first travel e-books, distributed globally by Apple, Bertelsmann and Sony. Wanderlust, her second company, licensed the popular Pink Panther character from MGM/UA to star in children's educational travel software. She took the company public in in 1996 (NASDAQ: LUST) which was Silicon Alley's first IPO. Her passion for Asia began in 1987 when she got on a plane bound for Hong Kong and stayed for seven years. She has been travelling to the remote corners of Asia ever since.

Jay is the Co-Founder and COO of Remote Lands. He is a four-time entrepreneur, who has established companies at the forefront of emerging technologies including an online media company and a telecommunications company. Jay has lived and worked in Asia for over 20 years conducting business throughout the region and setting up companies in Hong Kong, China, Thailand and the US. Jay opened and runs the Remote Lands Bangkok office, which handles the logistical coordination and up-to-the-minute support for clientele both before and during their trips. Jay enjoys the stark contrasts that are found amongst Asian destinations, from travelling in a dynamic high-tech metropolis like Hong Kong to becoming part of a crowd of 30 million pilgrims on the main day of bathing at India's Kumbh Mela festival.
Dr. Barb Paldus
Member of Board of Directors
As a Remote Lands Board Member, Dr. Barb Paldus is a key decision maker and advisor within the company. Barb is a partner at Skymoon Ventures, and CEO of Finesse, a technology company that creates solutions for running bioreactors. She received both her Ph.D. and M.S.E.E. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. Barb received her BS in electrical engineering and applied mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
As an investor, serial entrepreneur Dr. Mike Farmwald and his company, California-based Skymoon Ventures are key components of Remote Lands growth. Mike is also the co-founder of Rambus Inc., a leading chip technology developer, and a venture partner of Benchmark Capital.
